Congressman Austria currently serves on the House Committee on the Budget and the House Committee on Homeland Security. He was also elected by his peers to serve as the President of the current Republican freshman class.

The House Budget Committee establishes the federal government's spending and tax priorities. The House Homeland Security Committee oversees the Homeland Security Department, as well as reviews legislation on issues related to the safety of the American people and homeland security.

Prior to serving as a Member of Congress, Austria was a member of Ohio Senate for eight years, where he held the position of Majority Whip, and was a member of the Ohio House of Representatives for two years. Before his time in the Ohio Legislature, Austria owned a small business specializing in financial consulting.

Congressman Austria was born in Cincinnati, grew up in Xenia and is the oldest of nine children. He and his wife Eileen have lived in Beavercreek for the past 20 years, with their three sons Brian, Kevin and Eric.
